Today students in all classes were provided with a syllabus that includes pertinent classroom information for both students and parents.  Students were also given a "quiz" to complete in class using the syllabus.  All answers were located in the syllabus.  This is a way to ensure students read the syllabus and are familiar with classroom rules, procedures, grading policy, required materials, homework, and contact information.  Students are also responsible to take the syllabus home for parents to read and sign.  The signed syllabus will need to be returned to school next week.  This is the students first homework grade.

One note or change to the syllabus is grading.  After printing out the syllabus I made a change to how my classes will be graded.  Both math and sciences class will now be graded using a weighted system rather than total points.  Here is the breakdown for how each class will be weighted:

Math Science
Homework - 40% Homework - 30%
Quizzes - 30% Labs - 40%
Tests - 20% Tests - 30%
